SUSTAINABILITY
ENERGY & RESOURCES
We use 90% LED lighting throughout 100% green electricity, mains switch in all rooms to help reduce energy consumption, and low flush offset for toilets. We encourage guests to reduce water/cleaning by re-using towels/linen more than once during their stay, and all our rooms have complimentary filtered water and low consumption hand dryers. We reduced gas consumption through underfloor heating.
FOOD MILES
Through local sourcing, we reduce food miles, striving towards British seasonal ingredients and buying directly from small local farms and South West British organic meat.
SOURCING / PROCUREMENT
Where possible we source organic, local, and/or fairtrade produce, Neal’s Yard Organic Remedies in room amenities, Eco-friendly printing supplier, FSC paper, and eco-inks FSC* – Forest Stewardship Council.
CLEANING
We have Eco-friendly cleaning products – BioD / Ecover Reusable sponges and cleaning towels that are washed each day E-cloths to reduce cleaning product usage and a partnership with an ethical laundry company.
MINIMISING WASTE
We recycle glass, card/paper, cans, plastic, compost coffee grounds, and green kitchen waste, and have recycled, upcycled, and refurbished furniture.

We use Fair Trade sugar, tea, coffee, and chocolate.

COMPLETED PROJECT’S IN
In 2018 we joined and regular headed steering committee #noplasticstives – assisted lobbying other businesses in town to implement changes. We ordered Keepcups for the house and now offer reusable coffee cups to sell with an incentive of a free coffee from us. We use a Bumble Bee electric moped for all local errands.
UPCOMING PROJECTS FOR
In the future, we hope to set up our Flowhive Beehive with the hope of producing a bit of honey but mainly to introduce more bees into our immediate environment. Find incentives for guests to travel by public transport and commute locally.
